  • Q. Can I switch electrical suppliers?

    A. Yes, However, you may want to check with your current supplier to see if you have a contract or a cancellation fee.  To compare available gas and electric contracts go to http://www.energychoice.ohio.gov.  You should also contact the Village office to find out more information about the Village of Fort Recovery Aggregation Rate Program for both electric and natural gas supply.

  • Q. Who can assist with filing my village income tax return?

    A. Our Tax Administrator, Angie McAbee.  Angie is part-time so you may want to call to schedule an appointment with her.  419-375-1056 or email her at frtax@fortrecovery.org

  • Q. How can I dispose of large items such as mattresses, furniture, appliances etc.?

     A. Stop in the Village Office and purchase a SPECIAL Trash Tag.  You will place the tag on your item and Maharg’s Trash Service will pick it up on Tuesdays with your regular trash.

  • Q. How can I recycle light bulbs, batteries, old computers etc.?

    A.  You should contact the Mercer County Solid Waste Department for details and locations for these items.  419-586-1982 or solidwaste@mercercountyohio.org. 

  • Q. How can I dispose of old paint or gasoline?

    A. You should contact the Mercer County Solid Waste Department for details and locations for these items.  419-586-1982 or solidwaste@mercercountyohio.org

  • Q. What do I do if my trash was not picked up?

    A. Your trash must be out by 6:00 am.  If your trash was out and it was not picked up, you should contact Maharg’s Trash Services at 800-551-6242.

  • Q. What improvements do I need to obtain a Zoning / Building permit for?

    A.  Any improvement that changes the size, shape or form of the existing structure will require a permit as will the addition on any permanent improvement including accessory buildings, concrete work, fencing, or signage.  If you are not sure, please contact Randy Diller at 419-375-1056 for assistance.

  • Q. How do I get a Zoning / Building permit and how much do they cost?

    A.  The local Zoning Permits are issued by the Zoning Officer located at the Village of Fort Recovery offices.  Fees are dependent upon the work being done.  The zoning ordinance, fee schedule and forms are all available on the village website at www.fortrecovery.org

  • Q. Who should I contact if a street light in front of my house is not working?

    A.  Utilize the “Report a Problem” tab on the village website at www.fortrecovery.org or contact the village offices at 419-375-2530.

  • Q. Who should I contact if trees on my property are near power lines and need to be trimmed or removed?

    A.  You would likely need to hire a tree trimming service but you can contact Dayton Power & Light to see if they have any trimming plans in this area upcoming.

  • Q. When does leaf pick up begin in the Village?

    A.  The village does curbside leaf pickup in the fall of the year only.  We typically start mid/late October and go through the end of November.  Please place leaves out on the edge of the roadway for the vacuum to pick them up

  • Q. When is brush/ limbs picked up?

    A. Brush and limbs are picked up curbside on the first Monday of the month, except during the winter months. 

  • Q. How do I reserve a shelter house or the Pavilion?

    A. Contact the Village Office at 419-375-2530.  You will need to fill out a rental agreement and pay to finalize the reservation.  Shelters are $30 per day / The Pavilion is $150 per day. 

  • Q. When does the swimming pool open?

    A. The pool is open from Memorial Day to approximately the third week in August. 

  • Q. How do I sign up for Fort Recovery Youth Softball (FRYSO)

    A.  You can contact the village offices at 419-375-2530 to get more details on FRYSO signup.

  • Q. How can I sign up for ebills on my water account?

    A. Contact the village offices at 419-375-2530

  • Q. How can I enroll in auto payments for my water bill?

    A. Fill out the form on the village website at www.fortrecovery.org.  You can mail, email or drop it off at the village offices.
